Alzheimer's & Dementia

What is Dementia?

According to the Alzheimer's Disease Association(ADA), dementia is a condition that causes progressive intellectual decline leading to increasing difficulties in coping with everyday activities.

Dementia is more than forgetfulness, or signs of old age.

It is an overall term a wide range of medical conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease. These disorders, caused by abnormal brain changes, trigger a decline in cognitive abilities, that can impair daily life and independent function. It diminishes a person’s ability to care for themselves and causes problems with planning and communication. It also leads to changes in personality and behaviour.
